Clinical Chemistry

Clinical Chemistry

Clinical chemistry comprises a vast array of analyses, methods, diseases, and theories while having no specific subspecialty board certification beyond clinical pathology. Labs may be managed primarily by holders of PhD, masters, or medical technology degrees rather than an MD degree at some institutions. Nevertheless, a pathologist is often the first point of contact for many questions from clinicians and the final point of contact for many technical or administrative problems.

Given the near infinite depth and breadth of clinical chemistry, one approach as a pathologist is to be patient, ask the right questions, and know where & how to seek the answers. Developing a fundamental foundation is key.
