Multiple myeloma

Multiple Myeloma (plasma cell myeloma, multiple plasmacytomas)

General: Result from clonal expansion of immunoglobulin secreting, terminally differentiated B-cells. This secretory component may be termed the "M component" or monoclonal component, and may be seen prominently on serum &/or urine electrophoresis, also leading to terms such as monoclonal gammopathies, dysproteinemias, & paraproteinemias; however, these terms are considered nonspecific and may represent benign or malignant underlying causes.
