Introduction to Hematopathology

Hematopathology encompasses the pathology of the entire "contents" of the hematolymphoid system and its associated procedures and tests. More specifically, this includes: bone marrow, lymph nodes, peripheral blood, spleen, Flow Cytometry, coagulation, and other associated diagnostic tests or procedures. Often this purview extends to any tissue with an "unusual" lymphoid presence.

Board certified hematopathologists are, as of this writing, in relatively high demand, possibly due to the explosion of Immuno Intro in the last few years and the associated ability to much more precisely characterise hematolymphoid neoplasms and thus to more accurately research and treat them. Although this has made hematopathology far more precise, it has also made it more complicated to practice with confidence and efficiency.
