CAP Publications (College of American Pathologists)

CAP website

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) is separate from the American Board of Pathology (website), and describes itself as the principal organization of board-certified pathologists, serv(ing) and represent(ing) the interests of patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine. This is accomplished in part by setting laboratory standards and performing regular laboratory inspections, involving itself in political action, offering low-cost publications, and offering certain educational programs, among other things.

The CAP's publications are in general of good quality content, if not always top notch binding, and some represent their standard minimum requirements for performing certain activities or reports. Some are free for download. For financially challenged residents I would recommend looking for a promotion (usually for joining, which is usually free for residents), or ordering through someone who is a CAP member, and make the most of discounts.
